Syrian Accusations Irony: “Victims Have Now Become the Victimizers”
Democratic Gathering MP Marwan Hamadeh told Future News on Friday reacted to statements broadcast on Syrian State TV accusing the Future movement of funding Fatah al Islam with irony, saying that the victimizers were now the victims and vice versa.
“We expect all that and even more from the Syrian regime,” he said, adding “the spoiled children of the Syrian regime were the ones who appeared on the Syrian television.
The closeness of Belmar’s report and the international tribunal pushed the Syrian regime toward anxiety and creating anything to distract attention from suspects and criminals,” he said. The timing of the video’s release he said was intended to embarrass MP Saad Hariri while he was visiting Russia.
When pressed, he said the official response of the March 14 Secretariat General was sufficient enough.
Hamadeh said the video would not affect the International Tribunal and those are accused of crimes in Lebanon. “Where is Shaker al-Absi and why don’t all those who claim that they are Absi’s sons and daughters undergo DNA tests?” he asked.
The Syrian regime had little concern regarding the establishment of diplomatic relations with Lebanon, he said, “all that matters to them is portraying themselves as not meddling in Lebanon, as requested by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.”
He also said he was afraid the Syrian embassy in Lebanon would be “a new intelligence center.”
