Syria Does Not Recognise Lebanese Sovereignty
Lebanese Forces MP Farid Habib said that the Syrian regime does not recognize Lebanon and its sovereignty. He called for good relations with the Syrian population “whom we love a lot.”
In an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station on Thursday, he said that Syria’s accusation that a Lebanese faction was behind the bombing in Damascus in September was designed to intimidate the Lebanese before the parliamentary elections. “The Lebanese population will resist with all its force,” he said.
Habib said that the Lebanese Forces want reconciliation in the Christian community to relieve tension among Christians and in Christian regions, and not for any other electoral or political reason. He also said that obstruction of reconciliation came from outside Lebanon.
