March 14 Forces Renews its Call for Forming an Arab Fact-Finding Commission into Fatah al-Islam

March 14 Foorces renewed its call to the Arab League to create a fact-finding commission investigating Fatah al-Islam group.
On the eve of Secretary –General of the Arab League Amre Moussa arrival to Lebanon, the parliamentary majority issued a statement in which it stressed the need to," begin formation of a fact finding commission looking into the Fatah al-Islam gang, in parallel with an international investigation, to show the facts, not to be used for aggravating inter Arab relations and harming Lebanon."

The statement went on to accuse Syrian regime of "trading with this issue as it exports terrorism to Lebanon."

March 14 Forces highly valued results of "Conference for Religious and Cultural Dialogue" that was earlier held in New York disapproving the anti-conference campaign in Lebanon, supporting President Michel Suleiman”s call for making Lebanon an international center for directing a dialogue of civilizations and cultures, Lebanon to become an international laboratory of this dialogue.

"The importance of this call open the way for overriding the existing division in Lebanon; one view based on the culture of peace, coexistence and interacting with the other; while another is based on the culture of violence and division." Statement said.

March 14 expressed its satisfaction in which cabinet dealt with Interior Minister”s recent visit to Damascus. "Any process of coordination between two states must take into consideration controls placed around Lebanese-Syrian relations, removed from any mechanisms of Syrian "guardianship" – such as the treaty of brotherhood cooperation and coordination via the High Lebanese –Syrian Council."

The statement went on to mention the issue of Lebanese citizens detained in Syrian prisons, adding it carries an "important scope due to its humanitarian and tragic impact on hundreds of Lebanese families," calling on Lebanon”s government to make it a priority.

March 14 Forces concluded its statement by mentioning a Lebanese figure that lost his life at the time when Lebanon celebrates its independence day; former Minister of Industry and Member of Parliament Pierre Gemayel.
