A ranking security source said Hizbullah has asked police to apprehend drug traffickers in south Beirut in an apparent effort to combat the spread of drugs in the area.
"Hizbullah apparently does not want to do the job that puts it in confrontation with its partisans and, at the same time, wants drug trafficking curbed due to mounting protests by the population," said the source who asked not to be identified.
