Lebanon and Syria’s Painful History Revisited
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra said that the “rush” of officials from different factions to visit Damascus comes after a history between Lebanon and Syria which was painful.
Speaking to Voice of Lebanon radio station, he said that there are important issues with Syria which are not over yet. It is disappointing, he said, that some Lebanese officials vindicate Syria.
Criticizing the way politicians of all stripes have arranged meetings in Damascus, Zahra said that the constitutional authority should be the “one to open a new page” between Lebanon and Syria rather than political factions.
Zahra added that the head of the international investigation of the Special Tribunal had asked for a two month extension of a mandate to come up with the accusation which launches the tribunal’s serious work.
