Aoun an Agent for Damascus Manipulated By Hezbollah
In an interview with Kuwaiti newspaper al-Dar on Monday, Lebanese Forces MP Farid Habib noted that Michel Sleiman was the Lebanese president, while Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun was a “petty” agent for Damascus and one of the March 8 leaders who was manipulated by Hezbollah.
Habib said, “General Aoun… thinks himself Charles De Gaulle or Napoleon Bonaparte, and in the end, he is an officer who escaped from the battlefield, who forces upon us his positions and clownish movements.”
Habib added that Aoun was living in a “moving circus,” whereby at some point he wanted the head of Former Syrian President Hafez al-Assad and to destroy Syria and create bloodshed among the Christians. Then he was flattered, Habib added, when the Baath party welcomed him under their intelligence command. “Did he get the detainees back, or did he sell his dignity and principles?” Habib said in reference to the Lebanese missing or detained in Syrian prisons.
Habib said that the diplomatic exchange between Lebanon and Syria came as a result of the popular pressure from the March 14 alliance, adding that without this pressure, Damascus would have not taken such a step. He said that President Sleiman concluded the matter during his visit to Syria.
