Opposition Does Not Shoulder Its Responsibilities
Lebanese forces leader Samir Geagea said on Wednesday, following a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon Ahmad al-Bidyawi in Maarab, that the “ministers of the March 8 movement are present when the gains are shared, but they are always absent when it comes to shouldering their responsibilities,” adding that “the ministries, which are most corrupt, are those assumed by March 8 parties.”
On the Russian military assistance to the Lebanese Army, Geagea said, “Lebanon is a state which enjoys sovereignty and is an independent entity. Had it been otherwise, Russia would not have given us such high-quality, new arms.”
He added that the region is “witnessing an unusual situation because of the tragedy in Gaza.”
Geagea warned against “possible plans by certain regional powers to escalate the situation in the region, in order to take the pressure off Hamas in Gaza.”
