Hezbollah’s Political Position Concerning
Kataeb political office issued a statement following its weekly meeting under its leader, Amin Gemayel, on Monday hailing the Russian military assistance to the Lebanese Army, and it said that this assistance reflects “an important international decision to support Lebanon on all levels.”
“Such assistance spares Lebanon [from the usual] conditional grants tied to [foreign interests], which do not serve Lebanon’s neutrality in the regional and international arenas,” the statement read.
The statement slammed Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Naim Qassem who said that Hezbollah would maintain its arms until the full liberation of Palestine, adding that Hezbollah’s stances have surpassed all the “understandings that it had reached with other domestic parties, and they contradict the ministerial statement of the national unity government.”
The statement went on to accuse Hezbollah of “withdrawing from past commitments that tied its arms to restoring the occupied Lebanese territories.”
The statement expressed the Kataeb’s anxiety toward what they called the “dangerous turn in the political speech” of Hezbollah.
