Fatfat wonders why the opposition is trying to obstruct the Constitutional Council and participate in it
In a meeting in Al-Nabi Yushaa village in North Lebanon on Friday, Future Movement MP Ahmad Fatfat said that there were a number of MPs and ministers who were participating in the cabinet, but they were also attacking its policies and the prime minister.
Fatfat accused these ministers and MPs of blackmailing the cabinet since what is happening has made them believe that there is a national division. Fatfat said that the political blackmail was evident when March 8 forces tried to sabotage consensus and settelements reached in Doha agreement.
Fatfat said that what is happening with the Constitutional council is a fair example since appointments were made under threats and the cabinet was not able to play its democratic role in appointing the remaining members to the council the way it ought to.
Fatfat asked why the opposition was trying to obstruct the Constitutional Council, while it was participating in it. He said that the opposition, which included Hezbollah, Amal Movement and Free Patriotic Movement, wanted to obstruct the 2009 parliamentary elections through obstructing appointments to the Constitutional Council.
