Lebanon Would Not Be a War Theater
Defense Minister Elias Murr on Tuesday said the Lebanese Army would confront any attempt to attack Israel from Lebanese territory.
Murr, talking to reporters at Beirut Airport upon welcoming his Italian counterpart Ignazio La Russa, said "those who had fired rockets from south Lebanon (at Israel) are Israeli agents."
He spoke of consensus among the various factions on "refraining from giving Israel a pretext to launch an attack on Lebanon."
Murr said he emphasized to his Italian counterpart that "Lebanese territories would not be a pad for launching missiles and that we are seriously committed to UNSCR 1701."
"Lebanon is not a theater for war that was not decided by the government, the army, the resistance and the Lebanese People," Murr stressed.
