Hamas says it fired mortars at Israeli troops in Gaza
Hamas said it had fired three mortar rounds against an Israeli army unit operating inside the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, where tensions have soared in the wake of a deadly raid.
The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas”s armed wing, said in a statement it had fired "three mortar rounds against Zionist forces that were carrying out an incursion east of Maghazi" in the centre of the Palestinian territory.
Witnesses confirmed seeing mortar fire against four Israeli tanks in the area. The army had no immediate comment on the report.
