Najjar says 25 billion to be allowed to South Council
Speaking to Voice of Lebanon radio station on Friday, minister of Justice Ibrahim Najjar said he expected the Cabinet would reach an agreement over the Council for South budget for 25 billion LL instead of 60 as mentioned in some media reports.
He added that President Michel Sleimane made efforts concerning this issue, adding it was unlikely to cancel the work of any fund at the moment, as they ought to complete their tasks first.
Najjar also said that minister of Telecoms Gebran Bassil had assured he was implementing the law concerning the wiretapping, and “I cannot question his explanations based on some political rhetoric, although it was [an important issue to raised].”
Najjar concluded that if he was called for a meeting, his ministry would give its opinion on the issue at hand, and the Prosecutor-General Office would also be present to propose the necessary judiciary procedures.
