Saniora Hits Back at “Blackmailers”
The Higher Relief Council on Friday denied allegations it was holding due compensation for damage sustained during the 2006 war with Israel.
A statement said the authority delivered to the Council of the South on Jan. 14 the total of 1,348 checks to compensate for damage inflicted into their houses in south Lebanon during the 34-day war between Hizbullah and Israel.
The Higher Relief Council, in 15 days, also settled compensations for 4,944 citizens, the statement added.
It accused unnamed factions of practicing a "policy of blackmail" by attacking Premier Fouad Saniora and accusing him of holding due compensations.
