Higher Committee for Relief Responds to Aoun’s Accusations
The Higher Committee for Relief stated that it compensated the relatives of all those killed during the explosion that assassinated the former Prime Minister Raffik Hariri.
The committee was responding to allegations made by the head of the Free Patriotic Movement MP Michel Aoun on Monday that the committee had failed to compensate the relatives of certain Christian victims.
The committee said that it had paid compensation to all the victims’ families except for Hariri’s bodyguards whom Hariri’s son, MP Saad Hariri, asked that he could personally compensate.
The committee stressed that “it does not favor victims because of their political or religious affiliation,” adding that this applies to “all the victims of all assassinations and explosions on Lebanese soil.”
