Law 140 is the only solution for wiretapping crisis
In an interview with the Voice of Lebanon radio station on Friday, MP Boutros Harb stated that the only solution for the wiretapping, which was taking place legally or illegally, was to apply Law N⁰ 140 on the basis of ensuring national security and respecting citizens’ privacy.
He added that the issue was raised after the United Nations International Independent Investigation Commission (UNIIIC) objected to not having received necessary information after requesting it from the Telecommunications Ministry. Harb said the case was submitted to Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar.
Harb said he did not know the reasons behind Telecommunications Minister Gebran Bassil withholding information from the security services and the UNIIIC. He called for holding all political and security officials accountable in their relation to the wiretapping issue.
