MP Robert Ghanem: The attack on Bkirki is a sin
MP Robert Ghanem said that the recent low-brow political speeches and the campaign against Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir are a blow to Lebanon and its history of communal living.
“The attack against Bkirki, especially by some Christians, is a sin against Lebanon,” he said.
Ghanem called for respect of religious authorities in spite of political differences.
“It is an obligation to respect the values and history that Bkirki represents for Christians in particular and Lebanese in general,” he said.
Ghanem ruled out any advancement toward reaching a solution to the present crisis and expressed his doubts that Moussa’s visit will result in the success of the Arab initiative.
He also noted the need for an intra-Lebanese agreement as a prerequisite for the success of foreign efforts in Lebanon.
