Russian envoy expresses support for Hariri court
Russian Ambassador Serguei Boukin expressed hope on Monday that the Special Tribunal on the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri would remain non-biased and non-politicized.
If this was possible, then the tribunal could be successful in finding and punishing those who committed this "horrible" crime, he said.
After visiting Hariri”s grave site in downtown Beirut on Monday, Boukin also said Russia was an active participator in the process that led to the United Nations Security Council”s decision to adopt the Special Tribunal. "We were active in actions rather than words," he said. He underlined that Russia, as did other countries, helped finance the tribunal.
