Recent Security Breaches Threaten State’s Credibility
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said the recent events of kidnapping and murder of civilians threatened the Lebanese state’s credibility, and he called on the security forces to make efforts to reveal the identity of those responsible as soon as possible.
Geagea told reporters at his residence in Maarab on Wednesday that he welcomed the new alliance between the Kataeb party and MP Michel al-Murr in the North Metn for the upcoming parliamentary elections. However, he said that the “picture is still incomplete; it needs Minister of State Nassib Lahoud and LF candidate Eddy Abi al-Lamaa.”
He added that the call for holding the elections in two days “was not innocent,” because the elections would share a fate similar to that of the Constitutional Council, “which means [the March 8 coalition] will obstruct the second round if they did not like the results.”
