Feb.14 Rally Proves March 8 Will Not Win Elections
Secretary of the ruling March 14 coalition Faris Soeid said Thursday the Feb. 14 rally "proved that March 8 Forces will not win the elections."
"This terrifies Hizbullah," Soeid told LBC TV.
He said the kidnapping of MEA employee Joseph Sader and the murder of colleague Ghassan Miqdad have raised concerns about further security violations.
Soeid believed that a proposal by the March 8 coalition to divide the governing process on the three main confessions "disagrees" with the Taef Accord.
Taef calls for dividing power equally between Christians and Muslims.
Soeid hailed as "exceptionally wise" the behavior of Democratic Gathering leader Walid Jumblat when he called for "calm" following the killing of Druze citizen Lutfi Zeineddine during the Feb. 14 rally to mark the 4th anniversary of the assassination of former Premier Rafik Hariri.
Jumblat "acted very wisely. At the same time he did not abandon the fundamentals of March 14 Forces," Soeid stressed.
