Elections to be held on time without any delay
In an interview with al-Hayat daily on Monday, Interior Minister Ziad Baroud confirmed that the parliamentary elections would be held on time and in one day. He said all state security and administrative services were preparing to carry out the elections on time.
Baroud stated that nobody in Lebanon could handle the repercussions if the Doha Agreement were violated, adding that it stipulated the adoption of a new electoral law and carrying out the elections on time without delay.
The minister pointed out that the Parliament approved holding the elections in one day, making it a legislative choice, and the executive authority should implement it. He also said that nobody had any interest in not holding the elections, and all factions should cooperate to improve the security situation and ensure the appropriate atmosphere for the event.
