Special Tribunal to Ensure Justice, Not Take Revenge

An-Nahar Assistant Director Nayla Tueni said in a press conference on Friday that March 14 Forces, coinciding with the launching of the special tribunal for Lebanon, would on Sunday be placing wreaths on the tombs of all “political and civilian martyrs.”

Tueni said that all the political assassinations in the country paved the way for the Cedar Revolution, which, she said, stood tall before all regional and international pressures.

Tueni also said the Lebanese proved they were still loyal to the tribunal with their large-scale participation in the fourth commemoration of Hariri’s assassination on February 14.

She added that the court aimed to protect all Lebanese without exception and confirmed its goal was to ensure justice, not take revenge.

“We promise all those who sacrificed for Lebanon that we will be loyal to their martyrdom,” Tueni said.

She concluded, “February 14, 2005 was when the crime of this age was committed, but March 1, 2009 will be the day when truth wins over crime.”
