MP Mustafa Allouch: The situation is heading toward an explosion

 

MP Mustafa Allouch of the Future Bloc said that the situation in Lebanon is heading toward chaos. “The plan aimed at creating chaos and unrest will start soon, either through the opposition’s movements or bombings,” Allouch told the Saudi daily Okaz.

 

Allouch said that Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa is convinced that the opposition does not want to meet with the pro-government party.

 

“This means that the Arab initiative will not generate any solution. It has failed,” Allouch said.

 

A meeting that was supposed to rejoin MPs Saad Hariri and Michel Aoun with former President Amin Gemayel

and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa was replaced by a similar one joining Moussa with representatives of the three men.

 

Allouch also told the Voice of Lebanon radio station that the internationalization of the Lebanese crisis is inevitable and that Security Council Resolution 1559 governs the presidential elections.

 

“The possibility of having the Security Council deal with the presidential crisis is very serious because it is not acceptable for a state to remain without a president, especially in this delicate region of the world. Such a situation is a threat to international peace and security,” he added.

 

Allouch said he stands behind the pro-government party’s suggestion of reaching an agreement over major decisions ahead of discussing them in the cabinet.

 

“But we fear that any temporary solution could set a precedent and create obstacles in the future,” he added.
