Defense Strategy Should be Settled Prior to Elections

Lebanese Forces leader(LF) Samir Geagea, on Tuesday said that legislative elections should be held with a serious competitive spirit, hoping that the defense strategy issue should not be settled after the elections.

Geagea added that the state should at least have a minimum of its own presence and reverence.

"It is no longer acceptable that the fate of Joseph Sader, remains unknown. For a person to simply evaporate in day light from the heart of Beirut," Geagea said referring the continued disappearance of the Middle East Airline employee that was abducted by unknown assailants on his way to work last week.

The LF leader said that all March 14 Forces intends to form electoral lists at regions known to enjoy political and electoral influence saying: "we are considering forming an (election) list at the Baalbak –Hurmil region representing the other (political) movement and the cedar revolution, the issue remains under consideration, but is out in the open."

Geagea said that the defense strategy issue was not discussed at the latest round of the national dialogue because March 14 Forces continue to await Hizbullah”s working paper on the issue.

He went on to praise the Maronite church headed by Patriarch Sfeir saying the church is patient "However, when it saw that matters are getting out of hand, the church reminded everyone of its code,"
