We Reject Israel”s Violations of International Resolutions
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri declared his support for the Palestinian people”s right to establish their own state, rejecting Israel”s self-exclusion from United Nations resolutions.
Berri addressed an international summit organized by Tehran, "In Aid of Gaza and the Palestinians" on Wednesday, saying: "the Israelis are less capable of making peace with themselves today, following their recent parliamentary elections, so how could they make peace with others?"
"Our support will always be with the resistance and its program for the Palestinians and for the region, for the Palestinian Authority to adapt the program of the revolution and not that of tyranny against the revolution, for the Palestinian Authority to regain its role as a representative of the Palestinian people," Berri said.
He reiterated his stance that the best and strongest self defense for the Palestinians is their unity.
Berri maintained the importance of excellent Syrian-Saudi-Egyptian relations, together with good Iranian-Turkish relations, would help the Palestinian cause.
"Iran and Turkey are regional neighbors, they represent the strategic depth of the Arab region," he said.
Berri rejected the U.S.-Israeli security agreement, supported the Palestinian”s right to resist, and emphasized the need to put Israeli war criminals on trial.
