A Lebanese kidnapped in south of Nigeria
A Lebanese national working for a construction company was kidnapped on Wednesday in southern Nigeria, a region plagued by violence, as reported on Thursday from amilitary source.
"Armed individuals" kidnapped the Lebanese man identified as "Mr. David "in Bayelsa state, said in a statement Colonel Rabe Abubakar, spokesman for a joint force police army operating in the Niger Delta (south), without providing further details on the abductors.
The Lebanese national is an employee of a construction company, Elite Construction Company, conducting a road in the region, "said spokesperson.
The Niger Delta oil region is shaken by the last three years of violence perpetrated by armed groups claiming to act on behalf of local populations. The activists attacked mostly to oil companies
(sabotage, kidnapping of staff), but also regularly kidnap people not working for this sector.
The victims are usually released after a few days or weeks after the payment of a ransom.
