Aoun fears electoral outcome
March 14 General Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soueid told Future News television on Monday that Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun was “really concerned about the outcome” of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Soueid said that Aoun erroneously thought pro-Syria factions in Lebanon would give him more parliamentary seats following his visit to Damascus. “Deputy Prime Minister Issam Abu Jamra is now obliged to announce his candidacy in Achrafieh, because he failed to run in both Marjayoun and Zgharta,” he added.
Soueid concluded that the March 14 alliance’s campaign agenda, which was announced on Saturday, proved its commitment to the Taif Accord, the Arab Peace Initiative and UN Security Council Resolution 1701 to build a powerful state.
