Suleiman to Call for Solidarity in Arab Summit
President Michel Suleiman arrived in Doha Sunday to attend the annual Arab League summit, which will convene on Monday.
Suleiman is expected to call for "Arab reconciliation and solidarity in the face of Israel to help stability in Lebanon," an-Nahar said on Sunday.
The Lebanese leader believes that a unified Arab stance "will consequently reflect on some parties in Lebanon thus smoothing the path for the legislative elections," according to the daily.
Suleiman will ask the Arab leaders to "prove their solidarity through providing support to the Palestinians, rejecting bilateral negotiations with Israel and adhering to the principle of comprehensive (peace) talks."
The paper reported that Suleiman will hold talks with several Arab leaders and officials in Qatar, notably Saudi King Abdullah and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad before returning to Beirut on Tuesday.
