Announced candidates will not withdraw

Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra said on Wednesday that his party would not withdraw any of its announced candidates for the upcoming elections.

The LF did not seek to be represented according to proportionality in the Lebanese districts, but wanted to represent all its allies on all levels, he said.

In an interview with Free Lebanon radio station, Zahra explained that the LF’s ceremony on Saturday at BIEL was to remember the party’s suffering and an occasion to announce its candidates.

He also said that his party leader, Samir Geagea, defined the “essential banners for the coming period,” and “announced the Cedar Revolution II to continue the accomplishments of the 2005 Cedar Revolution.”

The March 14 alliance would run in the elections with a unified electoral list with one candidate for each seat, Zahra said, adding that the LF had also compromised for the sake of the alliance.

The relationship between Geagea and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt was “both strategic and had a complete understanding,” Zahra said.
