Kesrouan in “Political Battle”
Head of the Lebanese Forces Executive Council Samir Geagea praised the Lebanese army’s efforts, while describing Monday morning’s deadly ambush of Lebanese soldiers in the Bekaa valley as a “big crime.”
Geagea accused the Telecommunications Ministry of withholding information from the military institution and called on the cabinet to take appropriate measures.
He said that the Kesrouan district would witness a political battle in the upcoming parliamentary elections and confirmed the candidacies of National Bloc leader Carlos Eddé, Sejaan Kazzi and Kamil Ziadeh.
The LF leader added that some independent candidates would also be included within the March 14 alliance list to ensure its victory in the elections.
Geagea commented on the draft statement delivered to the Egyptian attorney general on Tuesday night by Head of the Egyptian Front to Defend Arab Dignity Samir As-Shishtawi, who called for pressing charges against Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Geagea voiced hope people involved in the matter would deal with the issue calmly.
However, he said that one thing was clear: Hezbollah members had illegally entered Egypt. He stressed that no party had the right to violate the laws of any country, even if it had good intentions.
Geagea said he would not make any further comments before investigations into the issue were concluded.
