March 14 renews commitment to alliance”s “principles”

The March 14 Forces renewed commitment to its founding principles and stressed unity among its various factions, a statement by the alliance said on Wednesday.

"We confirm our full commitment to the alliance”s principles that were based on preserving Lebanon”s independence, free decision and the full respect for all the components of Lebanese society," the March 14 Forces General Secretariat”s said in a statement released Wednesday after its weekly meeting.

"We should decide on the shape of the state that we want to build before we make our demands," the statement added.

The March 14 Forces General Secretariat said it was committed to all members. "Understanding reached on historical choices, the Lebanese identity and national independence are big achievements that should be sustained," it added.

"This is the headline of our battle: the transition from the suspended state to the effective state," the statement said.

The March 14 Forces” statement stressed the groups” "coherence and unity in the upcoming [June 7] elections, which are reflected in the formation of common electoral lists and the adoption of common electoral platforms."
 

"The elections," the statement said, "would determine and draw the future path of Lebanon, and confirm its independence from the axes that some parties are trying to have our country aligned with."

"We are committed to eliminating all the negative effects and tensions that the process of forming the electoral lists could bring about," the statement said.

The March 14 Forces extended their condolences to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) for the death of four of its soldiers after a deadly attack on an LAF vehicle in Baalbek last week.

The alliance also lauded the Internal Security Forces” intelligence branch for discovering the espionage network working for Israel and arresting its members.
