Assassinations followed with character assassinations
Democratic Gathering bloc MP Marwan Hamadeh said in a statement issued on Thursday that the release of the four generals that were held in connection to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri proved that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon was not politicized and called upon the Lebanese to voice their support for the court’s work.
He also called on the cabinet to quickly approve the memorandum of understanding between Lebanon and the STL.
He added that those who tried to prevent the establishment of the court, especially those who resorted to violence, were now attacking the tribunal and considering it irrelevant.
He said that some people use slander to follow assassinations with character assassinations, referring to the March 8 coalition.
He called March 8 the “Syrian orchestra” and said its officials should be held accountable if something happened to him.
