Hezbollah endeavors to direct attention away from regional accusations
Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra told the Free Lebanon radio station on Saturday that Hezbollah organized festivals to celebrate the release of the four generals held in connection with the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, following their four-year detention, in order to direct attention away from the regional accusations over its involvement in Egypt, Turkey and other states.
Zahra added that the generals’ release will positively affect the upcoming parliamentary elections in favor of the March 14 alliance.
“Until this day, there is no agreement reached over the Armenian seat in the Beirut I district. But we agree with Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri’s response to the Lebanese Forces,” he noted.
The LF MP confirmed that his party will attempt to be well-represented where it had a strong political weight and said that the Beirut I district will witness a political battle.
He said that the majority was not able to govern, “because it was weak and acted cowardly,” as well as the opposition’s threats and concluded that the March 8 coalition had been “launching a coup” against majority since the 2005 elections.
