Amal protest against campaigns of FPM candidates in Jezzine
Al-Hayat newspaper reported Monday that the Amal Movement and Development and Liberation MP Samir Azar requested Hezbollah to call on the Free Patriotic Movement to commit to “the pact of honor,” which was issued last week between Speaker Nabih Berri, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and FPM leader MP Michel Aoun.
The pact called on avoiding all kinds of sectarian mobilization and exchange of campaigns to provide the appropriate sportsmanship environment in the Jezzine district during the upcoming parliamentary elections.
This comes after Berri and Aoun failed to reach a unified opposition list in Jezzine, where both men announced separate lists, but assured the elections would be “friendly competition.”
Al-Hayat also reported that FPM Jezzine candidate Ziad Aswad did not stop his smear campaigns against current Jezzine MPs “to remind voters that his candidacy aims to retrieve Jezzine and free it of foreign pressures.”
