Israeli aggression coinciding with military maneuvers doubtful
Lebanese forces leader Samir Geagea ruled out any possibility that Israel could launch any aggression against Lebanon, “since conditions are not suitable for such an act.”
Following a meeting with US ambassador Michelle Sison in Maarab on Tuesday, Geagea added, “We in the parliament are all ready to face such an aggression if it takes place. I also think that the Lebanese army is ready to confront any security threats within its capabilities.”
“Even [Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan} Nasrallah ruled out the possibility that Israel may carry out any aggression, but the state should still be ready,” Geagea added.
He added, “There is no centrist bloc, but there are independent candidates in all the Lebanese regions and this is everyone’s right.”
He denied any alleged intervention of President Michel Sleiman in the elections.
On the continuing debate over the Armenian Catholic seat in Beirut I, he said, “I have suggested a balanced and fair proposal to the Armenian forces in the March 14 alliance, and we expect the impasse to be solved within hours if they respond positively.”
Geagea said that whoever is trying to pressure Fares Soueid to withdraw from the election race in Jbeil is doing a big favor to Michel Aoun.
