We Haven”t Attacked Sfeir Despite Differences
Free Patriotic Movement leader Gen. Michel Aoun said on Saturday that he hasn”t attacked Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir although he has announced he had political differences with him.
"We have political differences with Patriarch Sfeir but we haven”t attacked" him, Aoun told an FPM rally in Hadath.
He also denied that Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah would rule Lebanon if the opposition wins the June 7 parliamentary elections.
On criticism of his slogan the "Third Republic," Aoun said: "We swear that whatever the sky”s color is we will fight together the state of corruption and we will cross into the Third Republic."
"We will have a third, fourth, fifth and sixth republic," he said.
Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan, who also addressed the rally, said: "We ask along with Gen. Michel Aoun to usher together into the Third Republic."
He said the opposition is united and determined to win and "congratulations in advance for its victory."
