Higher Judicial Council Elects News Members Abu Nassif and Mansour
Cassation Court chamber heads and advisors on Thursday elected Elias Abu Nassif and Sami Mansour as members of the Higher Judicial Council for a three-year term during a closed session headed by Judge Ghaleb Ghanem.
The race was limited to Abu Nassif, Mansour and Issa al-Khouri after chamber heads Wael Murtada, Rashed Taqoush and Samir Aley dropped out of the race at the beginning of the meeting.
The electoral body is comprised of 48 members, of which 45 attended the session, including ten chamber heads.
The voters gave Abu Nassif 26 votes and Mansour 21.
