Suleiman Asks Cabinet to Carry out Caretaking Mission as New Parliament Mandate Begins
President Michel Suleiman asked cabinet on Saturday to carry out its caretaking mission pending formation of a new government.
Based on article 69 of the constitution, the president thanked the prime minister and ministers and asked the cabinet to continue caretaking until a new government is formed, the presidency”s general directorate said in a statement.
It reminded that according to article 69, the cabinet is considered resigned when the new parliament”s mandate begins, which in this case is at midnight Saturday.
