“Zahle in the Heart” Bloc Stresses Commitment to Electoral Platform
"Zahle in the Heart" parliamentary bloc has described talk about a spilt among its ranks as "hubbub," stressing its commitment to the electoral platform.
"What happened over the past two days was just hullabaloo," said a statement by the bloc after a meeting Wednesday under bloc leader MP Nicolas Fattoush.
The statement stressed its "commitment to the electoral platform and the policy of agreement and understanding in its performance."
Local media on Wednesday reported a split in Fattoush”s bloc, saying it has triggered a wave of condemnations in Zahle after three lawmakers walked out of his bloc to join that of the Lebanese Forces.
The three MPs are Tony Abu Khater, Joseph Maalouf and Chant Janjanian.
The daily As Safir on Wednesday said the issue will clearly result in a crisis within the majority March 14 coalition.
An Nahar newspaper, however, played down the political significance of Fattoush”s "Zahle in the Heart" bloc, saying it was meant to handle the region”s developmental issues.
The bloc "does not constitute a political entity that represents Zahle in Parliament," An Nahar said……….
