March 14: Lebanon is our homeland and will not be taken from us

 

The March 14 coalition said that no words of thanks could express their gratitude to the Lebanese who challenged danger, torrential rain, and poor road conditions in the north, south, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon and Beirut to say once again that they remain loyal to former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and the martyrs assassinated since 2005.

 

The coalition assured its followers that the situation after February 14, 2008 would be different from what was before the demonstration and that they would no longer give in to blackmail or allow anyone to “occupy our home.”

 

A statement issued by the General Secretariat of the March 14 bloc said that the Lebanese made their choice on February 14, 2008. “You reaffirmed your commitment to the principles of the Cedar Revolution, which you made on March 14, 2005,” it read. “You have shown that the majority of the Lebanese people is represented in the Parliament and Cabinet, after other tried to stage a coup through assassinations and bombings and fabricated illusions.”

 

The bloc said that through their participation, the demonstrated who gathered in Martyr’s Square on Thursday defeated terrorism and refused the return of Syrian guardianship to Lebanon. 

 

The vast participation of Christians, the coalition added, restored faith to Christian history and principles, as well as respect for the Maronite Patriarchate.

 

The equally vast participation of Muslims proves that their only choice is the moderation and openness of leaders like Rafik Hariri.

 

“On February 14, 2008, you proved that there is no weapon in Lebanon except the Lebanese army,” the statement continued.

 

The March 14 forces promised to find a national solution to the crisis in Lebanon, and promised they would no longer succumb to blackmail. “We will reach a safe harbor together. Lebanon is our nation. It is our homeland, and we will not allow anyone to take it over. “
