Inviting Opposition to Partake in Cabinet May be a Mistake
MP Boutros Harb told LBC on Sunday that the majority might have made a mistake in asking the opposition to participate in the cabinet. “Governance is not a joint-stock company,” he said.
He said the majority decided to cooperate with the opposition because they fear renewed obstruction attempts by the opposition.
“The obstructing-third vote experience was a bitter failure,” Harb said. He added that the majority needs to rule, while the opposition can have symbolic representation.
Harb also said that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s demand for proportional representation in the cabinet contradicts the constitution and the principles of parliamentary democracy.
