Nothing Prevents Cabinet Formation before Month”s End
Speaker Nabih Berri was quoted as saying Wednesday that "nothing prevents formation of a new government by the end of the month."
"We are still within the normal timeframe for the Cabinet lineup," Berri was quoted as telling MPs who met him as part of the weekly Wednesday meetings.
Berri also spoke of shuffling the political cards in hopes of a speedy formation of a national unity government.
In a related event, U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon said in a letter to Berri that he looks forward for stability and unity in Lebanon based on the Taef accord and international resolutions.
"I am confident that the various (political) parties would cooperate to form a government that would guarantee Lebanon”s stability," Ban said.
