MP Chehayeb: Nasrallah is a ticking bomb

MP Akram Chehayeb of the Democratic Gathering bloc said that all factors indicate Syria’s involvement in the assassination of Hezbollah official Imad Mugniyah.

He also said that Syria might have offered a down payment to Israel or the US by assassinating Mugniyah.

“Hezbollah, who has blamed everyone except Syria for Mugniyah’s assassination, has used this incident to legitimize it weapons forever,” Chehayeb told the Kuwaiti daily Al-Ray.

He added that Syria is a pioneer in this field. “We all recall how Damascus handed over Abdullah Ocalan, the head of the Kurdistan Workers Party, and the killing of Sheikh Abu Al-Qaaqaa, who was known for his relation with the Syrian Intelligence Services. We also recall how Damascus facilitated the smuggling of militants from Syria to Iraq.”

“Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah accused Israel of assassinating Mugniyah, without pointing to the Syrian regime. However, if any person is assassinated in Lebanon, fingers are directly pointed at the deficiency of the Lebanese government and the interior minister. What about the responsibility of the Syrian regime, the Syrian interior minister and Syrian security agencies?”  Chehayeb asked.

He also described Nasrallah as a “ticking bomb.” “He wants to be the sultan and wants us to follow his orders,” Chehayeb said.

He noted Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki’s visits to the “state of Hezbollah” and the state of “Damascus’ ruler.” He said that the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon’s abstention from visiting the Grand Serail reflects the Syrian-Iranian axis’s views of Lebanon.

“The Lebanese government must call on the Lebanese ambassador in Teheran to return to Lebanon and demand the Iranian ambassador in Beirut to rally behind General Jaafari in Teheran or any of the open-war generals,” Chehayeb added.

“Why do they always want to eliminate Israel from Lebanon?” he asked.

He also noted that the Syrian regime is trying to preserve the presidential vacuum in Lebanon and is working toward the obstruction of constitutional and security institutions.

“MP Michel Aoun was commissioned by Hezbollah to obstruct and hamper solutions,” Chehayeb added.
