Meeting with Franjieh Not at Expense of LF, Allies
Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel said Monday his meeting a day earlier with the head of Marada Movement Suleiman Franjieh did not take place at the "expense of the Lebanese Forces or Cedar Revolution allies."
"The meeting with Franjieh paves the way for an imminent encounter between the LF and Marada," Gemayel said after talks with Environment Minister Tony Karam, who was dispatched by LF leader Samir Geagea.
The talks in Bekfaya Sunday "also lay the foundation for an era of good relations in the future, in order to push forward the process of accord and to revitalize the Christian role," Gemayel added.
The former Lebanese president blamed "offensive speeches by some leaders" for failure to hold talks with the Free Patriotic Movement in the near future.
"The Phalange Party insists on open-mindedness and dialogue based on an outreach policy," he added.
