Iran Wants to Help Lebanon Reach Consensus
Iran is prepared to help the Lebanon achieve national accord and is optimistic at the prospects of a government shape-up, Iran”s Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammed Rida Shibani told Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh Tuesday.
"We have already said that the Islamic republic is fully prepared to place all capacities and potentials at its disposal to help the Lebanese political movements and sects reach a state of accord," Shibani said.
"We have achieved this in practice and are hoping the steps we have taken will have positive impacts," he added.
On the government”s formation, Shibani said: "We are optimistic and the Lebanese should be as well."
The ambassador refused to answer a question over whether he expected a cabinet to be shaped in the near future.
"Let us not set a date for its formation. God willing, if all the political movements approached the issue with an optimistic mindset then Lebanon will reach the desired outcome," he said.
