March 14 Wants Government Formation Decrees to Reflect People”s Will
March 14 forces expressed hope Wednesday that government formation decrees will reflect the popular will expressed in the last parliamentary elections, without constitutional pre-conditions on the state.
In a statement following its regular public meeting, March 14 stated a future government should be shaped "especially after being able to overcome some of the pressures placed on the PM-designate and the president in particular to refrain from using the veto power."
On the other hand, it denounced the "continuing campaign of extortion, especially by Israel and some Lebanese parties, of U.N. Resolution 1701 and UNIFIL forces in the south. It said: "This unjust campaign is striking at the heart of Lebanon”s interest and the interests of our people in the south who deserve stability and security."
The statement added: "On the 8th anniversary of the mountain”s reconciliations, beginning of August 2001, we call on our people in the mountain, Muslims and Christians, to continue on the path of accord and brotherhood."
It underlined that the mountain reconciliation "turned the page on a heavy history of conflict, and is built on the spirit of the Taef Accords. At the same time, it formed an essential step towards the second era of independence."
