Reality Dictates Phalange Strong Representation in Government
Phalange party leader Amin Gemayel said that [political] reality today dictates that his party should be strongly represented in government.
Gemayel made his comments to reporters after receiving a Maronite League delegation on Thursday headed by Joseph Tarabay in Bikfaya.
"They [Phalange] represent an important slice of people over all Lebanese territories," Gemayel said, adding that the issue of government portfolios would be discussed with the Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri.
He called a government statement that only includes articles that affirm the national sovereignty in full.
"There is no shared sovereignty, the state must be the sole master over all its territories in holding the decision of war, peace and negotiation," Gemayel said.
He expressed his hope that Lebanon is now over the issue of veto power in government, "Let the president play his role in full as a guarantor of the national objectives."
