MP Jumblatt: The Syrian regime is playing all its cards

 

MP Walid Jumblatt, head of the Democratic Gathering bloc, said that the threats directed against the Kuwaiti Embassy reveal once more that the Syrian regime is still the highest commander in Lebanon, even after its withdrawal.

 

“The Syrian regime and is allies are trying to terrorize foreign delegations that are supporting Lebanon. After Saudi Arabia, France and the US, it is now the turn of the Kuwaiti Embassy, which has always supported Lebanon on political, economic and moral levels,” Jumblatt said.

 

He added that the Syrian regime is trying to play all its cards ahead of the Arab Summit expected to be held in Damascus in March.

 

Jumblatt also accused the opposition of blocking solutions. “The opposition has proven that it belongs to a project disconnected from Lebanon, its constitution and the Taif Agreement. The opposition wants Lebanon to be an open ground for war, to suffer from the vacuum and to be paralyzed,” he said.

 

“These are not the aspirations of the demonstrators who expressed their support for the government on February 14,” he added.
