Aoun Successfully Hindering Government Formation for Fourth Year
Deputy Speaker Farid Makari accused “Change and Reform” parliamentary bloc and Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) leader MP Michel Aoun of hindering the formation of a national unity government for the fourth year in a row.
In an interview with the Kuwaiti daily An-Nahar [published Thursday], Makari said: "As usual Aoun pledged to hinder the path for forming a government. For the fourth time in a year and with great success he is doing so as he previously did in 2005."
"Aoun”s demand for a major portfolio in government for his parliamentary bloc…only aims to enlist Jebran Bassil and maintain the Telecommunications ministry in the hands of the FPM," Makari said.
He went on to add that the government formation is close to be completed adding, "The Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri cannot allow anyone to foil his mission as he is determined to succeed and is working on getting his mission as soon as possible; he only desires [to form a government] to govern."
