Does Hizbullah Want to Drag Lebanon into a New Tragedy?
Mount Lebanon Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Ali Jouzou said on Sunday that Hizbullah and the Lebanese people would pay a heavy price in case of a new war with Israel.
"Not only Hizbullah would pay a price but the entire Lebanese people would pay such a price. Does Hizbullah want to drag Lebanon into a new tragedy and take unilateral decision of war?" Jouzou wondered in a statement.
He said Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah”s speech on Friday about "divine victories" during the 2006 war with Israel was "exaggerated."
"No matter how strong Hizbullah is, it is not wise to underestimate the military strength of our enemy which destroyed the south, the southern suburbs, all bridges and power stations in 2006," Jouzou said.
"It is true that the resistance remained steadfast against the violent attack of the Israeli enemy. But Lebanon paid and until now is paying a heavy price," he added.
