Al-Mustaqbal Bloc Renews Commitment to Taef, Constitution
Al-Mustaqbal movement parliamentary bloc reaffirmed Tuesday commitment to the Taef Accord, the Constitution and Lebanon”s democratic system of governance, during its weekly meeting headed by interim Premier Fouad Saniora.
Reviewing progress in the government formation process, the participants said "the obstacles that some are using to prevent a successful shape-up lead to violations of the Taef and Constitution."
They stressed the need for "everybody to respect the constitution and constitutional privileges granted to the premier-designate and the president in the government formation process."
The meeting condemned "foreign media campaigns that further hinder the shape-up of a homogenous cabinet, which expresses the will of the Lebanese and their need for a political agreement that provides the necessary stability."
It said the "dangers surrounding Lebanon and the region in general must push all the Lebanese to remove Lebanon from the arena."
The participants encouraged Premier-designate Saad Hariri to "continue to shun wrangling and to push forward for the formation of a government of national coalition."
They also called on Hariri to "continue to adhere to calm dialogue to resolve differences among the Lebanese."
